To extract water from the cheese whey, many cheese manufacturers use a combination of course prefiltration, a centrifuge, pasteurization and reverse osmosis. However, the disadvantage of the centrifuge and reverse osmosis unit is that they are not suitable for treating liquids with high or large solids. The centrifuge fixed parts are damaged, the membranes are overloaded and plugged unnecessarily. By placing a prefilter in the installation, a large part of the solids are filtered out of the cheese whey. The recovered cheese curds has almost the same structure and quality as the cheese in production. Unlike centrifuges or rotating sieves, the AMKCO Europe whey separator is designed in such a way that it does not damage the structure of the cheese, which usually results in a good price per kilo.

to your grease centrifuge
The grease centrifuge, which is placed after the sieve, removes the fat that is still present in the whey. Given the sensitivity of the centrifuge to contamination, it is profitable that the product is pre-filtered as well as possible. In addition, fat is a component of cheese production with a very high value and therefore interesting to filter out as much as possible. By placing a prefilter of AMKCO in the installation, the product is of such clean quality that the centrifuge is less stressed and therefore requires less maintenance. Placing a prefilter has a positive impact on both the process progress and the efficiency achieved.
AMKCO Europe separators are standard equipped with a motor of up to 1.8kW where capacities of 30-35 m3/hour are no exception at all. As a result, the process of prefiltration can also take place very efficiently.
