Costs for (waste) water are increasing. That is why reusing water is often a good starting point to reduce your costs. Less water intake also means less wastewater. The knife then cuts both ways. However, reuse is not always possible, because legal provisions or your HACCP rules prohibit this. The water will then eventually have to be discharged. The costs involved are determined by the amount of pollution units (VE) in the wastewater. That is, the dirtier the water, the higher the cost. Wastewater can be filtered using different techniques. In practice, stationary sieves, drum filters, screw presses or belt filters are often used. But these filters often don't get the wastewater clean enough and are often expensive to use: these require a lot of maintenance, have a high filter consumption or simply need a lot of operator attention.
Whey pre filtration

The use of an AMKCO sieve helps to increase the quality of the cocoa mass removing sand and other waste solids from the liquid cocoa mass. These particles are separated from the product with an AMKCO sieve in order to prevent clogging and to make optimal use of the cocoa press.

In recent years there have been many developments in the field of manure processing. As the costs for manure processing continue to increase and the regulations become stricter, the demand for a good and simple manure processing system has increased enormously.
AAMKCO Europe has been active in the manure sector since 2010 and therefore has a lot of experience and knowledge in the field of manure processing solutions. Often a screw press precedes the vibratory separator, separating the thick fraction from the thin fraction. Many installations are based on sending the thin fraction directly to the ultra-filtration or reverse osmosis system. The problem they encounter at these installations is the unnecessary contamination of the membranes. AMKCO offers a pre-screen solution in which manure of a continuous quality is fed to the ultra-filtration process in such a way that the membranes are minimally loaded.
All nurseries suffer from wastewater treatment costs which are often caused by inefficient traditional filters such as sand filters or automatic filters. These produce large amounts of rinsing water. The vibratory separator from AMKCO (horticultural filter) separates this wastewater flow into reusable solid waste and into a nutrient filled water stream which can be 100% reused as plant food water.

In the production of olive oil, a lot of "black water" or wastewater is released via the various press stages. Black water was previously forbidden for reuse because of its high biological solids loading and had to be stored in large settling basins. Since 2018, this law has been amended and filtered nutrient filled filtered black water can now be reused in agriculture. AMKCO has developed a sieve that filters the black water and ensures that wastewater is no longer a problem, but a revenue source for the producer. Cost reductions and quality improvements by using an AMKCO black water sieve system is a result of more solids extracted for recycling. This not only allows more olive oil to be produced, but also improves the quality of olive oil.
